Matthew's House Food and Clothing

Our Reason

Matthew 25:35-40

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothed you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” 40 “The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

Our Vision

To offer hope for a better way of life to all that seek it, regardless of age, sex, color or nationality and what ever life choice or circumstance has brought them to this point.

Always with a loving hand up, not just a hand out .

Our Mission

Matthew’s House Ministries, through a strategic 90 day plan, will endeavor to eliminate chronic poverty and homelessness in individuals seeking our help through referrals from the O.R.C. by identifying the root cause of their problem and empowering them to overcome.

We will accomplish this through individual needs assessment and meeting the immediate need of such items as food and clothing, referrals for medical attention and a 90 day case management plan consisting of spiritual and financial counseling, behavior modification through recovery and re- entry programs, job readiness training and education, locating affordable housing and encouraging the importance of giving back to the community through volunteerism.

Who We Are

Matthew’s House is a community outreach program where hope abounds and the love of God is shared with all.

This ministry was started in February 2004 completely on faith, with no idea of how to do it or where it would take us. Hundreds of people have found help, hope and the love of Jesus through this open door. God continually amazes us as we have simply been obedient to His call. And just like the Living Vine, we watch it grow daily.

We offer on a regular basis, emergency food, clothing, hygiene and cleaning products, backpacks and school supplies to anyone in need. The third Saturday of each month we open our church facility to our community’s homeless and less fortunate. We greet our community with a free hot meal and assess their needs. They are allowed to go through the clothing rooms, given food boxes if needed as well as hygiene, cleaning products and school supplies. Medical students from the Vanderbilt Medical Center come on this day as well and perform free health screenings consisting of eye exams, BP, Diabetes and HIV testing. When a need arises that we are unable to fill we link them with other resource assistance programs. Each Wednesday evening from 5-6 pm we meet with ex-offenders from all around the area as they transition from prison back into society and provide clothing, food and other needs based on individual assessement.

Now available by appointment,
